Osteogenesis Imperfecta

Abstract
To diagnose osteogenesis imperfecta is important, but the determination of prognosis for individual patient is still more important, for the preliminary knowledge of the exact outcome of each patient enables one to resume the most efficient course of treatment.
Osteogenesis imperfecta was diagnosed in a 7-year-old girl, who presented herself with pain and deformity of the right lower leg after trivial trauma. X-ray examination disclosed a pathological fracture of the right tibial shaft with slender contour of both tibia and fibula and moderate osteoporosis. She experienced six episodes. of long bone fractures, starting from the 21st day of birth. Her statue was almost normal and no such symptoms as blue sclera, laxity of the joints, and spine deformity could be observed.
With the above criteria, she was classified into the tarda gravis type of this disease and we could assure her a favorable prognosis, though correction for bowing of the tibia would be justified in later years.
